Mid-Century Mexican Inspired Bedroom

Our inspiration for this bedroom started with the wonderful “Mayan Mod” wallpaper we installed behind the bed. Our client, Jackie Beat also had an African mask and crucifix collection with which we created an installation of them to create drama. We purchased and framed a couple of vintage posters from the 1972 Olympics in Mexico City which also contained our color palette of brown, amber, black, white, and orange. Staying within a color palette always creates a pleasing and cohesive visual effect. The walls are painted in my favorite brown, Dunn Edwards’ Red Hook. It contains enough red undertones to make it very warm without looking too “brick” or “rust”. The tan and white batik curtains complement the African masks and create a softness against the brown wall. To top it off, this gorgeous modern ceiling fan with teak blades is a real show stopper that is also very functional.
